Introduction to ILIAS (in two parts)

Get to know the basics of Unibe’s ILIAS. This two-part introductory course gives you the know-how to administrate your ILIAS course and implement tried and tested tools and scenarios to complement your teaching and collaboration.

You will be able to organize an ILIAS course and set up and use the main ILIAS tools. You will be able to decide which ILIAS tool is suitable for which scenario.

Content

General course content: You will learn how to use ILIAS in general, how to set up your ILIAS course, and what a course looks like from a student's perspective.

  • Menus and structure of ILIAS
  • Efficient navigation in ILIAS
  • Personal workspace
  • Repository, search, mail
  • ILIAS resources
  • Course creation (KSL)
  • Course settings
  • Add and administrate course participants
  • Course organization (with sessions, folders, item groups)

In addition, you will get to know frequently used tools from an administrator's point of view and will be able to create and set them up yourself. These are e.g.

  • Exercise

  • LiveVoting

Arbeitsweise / Programm

Method

This is a hands-on course. Each participant works on their own computer under the guidance of an experienced instructor - inputs, demonstrations, and exercises alternate throughout the course.

Participants will be introduced to the ILIAS with preparatory assignments.

Target audience

University employees in charge of administering and/or setting up an ILIAS course. Lecturers and assistants who wish to get to know the possibilities of a learning platform. The course is also open to interested external parties.

Beschreibung

Description

The University of Bern utilizes the open-source learning platform ILIAS. This learning platform offers various teaching and learning tools for digitally supported teaching. With ILIAS, supporting traditional courses efficiently and easily and designing extensive web-based learning environments is possible. Participants can get to know basic and helpful tools of ILIAS with the help of hands-on exercises. Participants work with their own test courses to practice using ILIAS and implementing application scenarios.

Participants are asked to log in to Unibe's ILIAS at least once before the course using their campus account.

Basic knowledge of using a PC or Mac.
