Writing a Journal Article… and Getting it Published
Ziele
The goal of this course is simple: to enable PhD students to get their articles written and sent off to a journal. By the end of the course, students will have an understanding of the publication game, the key players and the scientific journals. They will be able to organize, plan and write the article. Furthermore, they will be able to deal with reviewers and editors.

Day 1:
1. Understanding the publication game

6. Writing the article
Day 2:
Write a first draft of the article.
Day 3:
In the morning of day three we discuss the drafts.
In the afternoon we address issues plus about finalizing and submitting articles.

Attainment of learning objectives measured by assessing progress of students’ own proposed article.

Zielpublikum
All PhD students, Post-docs, clinicians and public health practitioners who wants to write and publish an article.
Besonderes
It is essential that participants are actively writing or are ready to write their article. Practical exercises will use students’ own material. The course is suitable for students using either quantitative or qualitative research methods. The course is not suitable for those who are still planning their study, collecting the data, or doing the analysis. Note that this is not a course on critical appraisal or English language and grammar.
Anmelde- und Aufnahmeverfahren
A tertiary education degree is required. The program manager decides on the final admission. Priority is given to PhD students.
Application process: You are requested to enroll online. Seats will be allocated according to date of enrolment. Three weeks before the course/workshop at the latest, the administration will decide and inform about running or cancelling the course/workshop.

Registration fees are waived for PhD students of the University of Bern who commit to the whole course attendance. To avoid being invoiced, it is mandatory that you indicate your institute and the matriculation number upon registration for the course. Please note cancellation regulations below.
